Moving to the Big Easy

We are officially New Orleans residents!! We moved exactly 7 days after Mary Elizabeth was born, and it was definitely an adventure. Seth and some friends moved all of our furniture out a few days before, and the plan was to stay a few more nights at our house with just a few essential items. The plan did not work, so we relied on friends and family our last two nights in LC. We made it to NO in a little over 4 hours (not bad, considering we stopped twice to feed ME), and my sister and J and the kids were there to welcome us to our new home. I am very excited about this new chapter in our lives...and a little nervous. I will (and already do) miss all of our wonderful friends and family in Lake Charles. Thanks to everyone for helping us with the move!

I want to get your opinion/ideas about a new name for our blog...we are no longer on 7th street, so we need to come up with something new. Please leave a comment with your ideas - can't wait to hear them!

Welcome Mary Elizabeth!!

Mary Elizabeth Washington was born on January 17, 2011 at 12:13 pm! She weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. We are so blessed to finally meet our sweet new addition to the family! Big Brother Benjamin loves his baby sister, and he is very gentle with her (most of the time)...

Tickle Time

Super Why!

Benjamin has a new word...

WHY?

He started asking "why?" a while back, but it was very sporadic (maybe once or twice a week). Now, he asks "why, Mommy?" for everything!! And...this Mommy does not know why...most of the time. I guess I need to get creative!

Oh, and when he is feeling a little frisky, he will say, "Why Mom?" (instead of Mommy). All grown up...

Moving Party...and a surprise

We are getting closer and closer to Mary Elizabeth's arrival AND our move to New Orleans...because I am getting so large, it has been getting tougher and tougher for me to pack without help. My friends offered to help, so I scheduled a "Moving Party". I was very excited, not only to spend some time with my girlfriends, but to finally "knock out" packing the kitchen (the high cabinets and heavy serving platters have been taunting me for weeks!). I ordered pizza and picked up a King Cake and waited for the girls to show up. My friend, Tanya, called me twice during the day asking to let her take care of the food...Of course, I insisted would at least feed everyone who was coming to help! Never once did I think they had other plans! Long story short, and a beautiful cake, balloons, TONS of food, and lots of sweet pink baby stuff later, we were celebrating Mary Elizabeth and packing lots of boxes!Surprise!!
yummy
pink and more pink!!

Thank you to my wonderful friends who made me feel very special Wednesday night! I love you girls, and I will miss you TONS!! Please, please visit us in the Big Easy!

And...because today the TIGERS are playing football, Benjamin and I are both ready to celebrate!!
We're #1!!!

GEAUX TIGERS GEAUX!!!

One more quick, and heartbreakingly sweet note: Ben knows his Daddy is coming home today, and all day he has been asking for him. I have been trying to get things in order, which requires Benjamin to play by himself (a newer concept to him, but one we are working hard on)...and after a few minutes of him moping around me, asking me to "race", play trains, read books, etc...he stopped, looked at me and said, "Daddy play with me when he comes home!" and he stormed off to his room!!
